Diagnosis of Hemorrhoids

Pile or Hemorrhoid is an abnormal fleshy growth in anorectal region. In Ayurveda this disease understood as Arsha. According to modern medicine it refers to a condition in which the veins around the anus or lower rectum are swollen and inflamed.

This Disease Diagnosed by various of methods like

History : Patient of this disease give peculiar history i.e. constipation, some thing ball like feeling, passage flatus in excess, gaseous distension, bleeding in drop during defecation, weakness, faintness

Inspection : It is an important tool of diagnosis. the anal area of patient is visualized in lithotomy or lateral position. and the piles are seen as 1 or 2 or 3 balls at opening of the anus. The prolepses piles are seen very easily. Patient may inspect his / her anal area by visualizing self by a plane mirror

Digital examination : It is an important tool for diagnosis of piles. Patient is kept in lithotomy or lateral position on examination table and index fingere is introduce in anal canal. This method is useful in diagnosis of primary pile mass those are not prolepses out from anus. For hemorrhoids patient no anesthesia is require for this examination. however some lubrication and protection of hand is require.

Proctoscopy : The interior of anus and rectum is visualize by introducing an instrument known as proctoscop. this instrument in hollow and made-up of iron or steal. the practoscope is lubricated and some anesthetic drug also apply to relive some discomfort produced by instrument.

Endoscopy : this is used for higher locate bleeding pile and other pathology of rectum and colon. also use for treatmetn of piles.

Barium enema : this method is used for visualizing the interior of anal canal, rectum and colon on x-ray screen.

Ultrasonography : This technique is used for documentation of other pathology i.e. pregnancy, liver disorders, portal obstraction etc. of abdominal cavity.

MRI : This technique is used for documentation of other pathology i.e cancer of abdominal cavity.
