Cancer is like a "Bomb" in the life of a person and it is understand that if someone is diseased with cancer, he spent his rest life very painful and at last he died due to cancer. If we know about the etiopathology of disease, we can avoid the development of disease and if disease come into existent then it can be cured in early stage. This phrase fit on the cancer. In Modern era, the cancer is group of more then hundreds different diseases. Our body is made-up of billions on tiny microscopic cells. These cells are divide to make different tissue and cell according to there requirements. The cells divide – grow and decayed at a fixed duration. When the co-ordination between division-growth and decayed is disturbed, there may be chance of development of a tumor or nodular swelling. These tumor or nodular swelling is of two type – Benign (non cancerous) and Malignant (cancerous). The cancerous tumor grows at its place just like bushes. And side by side it spread throughout the body i.e. lungs, liver, bone and brain via blood stream and lymphatics. Spreading of the tumor divided into stages. The treatment of cancer is depends upon stage. The stage is established and characterized by size of tumor, spread in lymphnode and other organs of the body.
Exact cause of cancer is still not known but there are several such things are found which may be responsible for development of cancer tumor. These are known as carcinogen. For example, Nicotine found in tobacco and some other chemical are responsible for carcinoma of lungs, mouth and esophagus. Benzene and ultraviolet wave of sunlight may produce skin cancer. Some microbial organism may produce carcinoma of cervix, uterus and vagina. The cancer is diagnosed by cytological and biopsy examination. Metastasis of cancer is diagnosed by blood investigation, tumor marker, x-rays, ultrasonography, CT scan, MRI etc.
The cancer can be prevented by avoiding different cancer producing element such as tobacco should avoid preventing mouth cancer. In India, every 2 lacks patient develops mouth cancer due to consumptions of tobacco. Anti Tobacco publicity, balanced vegetarian diet and pollution free atmosphere can decrease the incidence of cancer. Diagnosis of cancer in early phase in very important, because there eighty percent chance of curing if cancer patient treated in early phase. But the cure rate remain five percent in forth stage. General public awareness, screen test for the cancer in primary stage may be helpful for diagnosis of cancer. In modern practice, mainly three methods – surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy are used. These method are uses single, two or all. The method of treatment is depends upon type and stage of cancer. These three method are use to kill the cancer cells or remove from the body. Modern science is searching such method which less trauma and disease destroy completely. Genetic engineering may change the treatment modality, recent work in gene therapy shows some hope for cancer patient.
