Application of Kshara Sutra
..........Blunt/sharp pointed probe provided with an eye at other end or a curved probe with eye as per need used for applying the Kshara Sutra in the fistulous tract. These probes should be malleable to be molded easily according to the curvature of the tract and need. some others instruments like scissors, artery forceps also require. Kshara Sutra applied according to the principle as the described by Ayurvedic Surgeon Sushruta. According to him the tract of the fistula should be first examined with the help of simple probing and then needle shaped blunt probe threaded with Kshara Sutra, should be introduced to the tract and brought out through its other end. The thread should be tied tightly and left in situ. Now technique was slightly modified. Applied region should cleaned with antiseptic solution, and first probe is passed from the external opening gently, and care being taken not performs any false track by force for probing. The tip of probe was felt with the finger at other end (for example in case of fistula it is in the rectum) and directed out of the anus. The thread was passed in eye of probe and pull out through other end, thus passing the thread along the fistulous tract. The so passed thread was snugly tied by putting two surgical knots and an excessive length of the thread was cutaway.
